Cookie Policy

Last updated: 15 June 2026 — Governed by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We use only the cookies needed to run the service — we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell your data.

2. Cookies we use

  • Anonymous usage identifier (lexnz_uid): a random UUID that lets us enforce fair-use query quotas. It is not linked to your name or email unless you sign in.
  • Authentication & session cookies (only if you sign in): set by our authentication provider to keep you securely signed in and protect your account. These are essential to the signed-in experience.
  • No advertising or tracking cookies: we do not place cookies that track you across other websites or build an advertising profile.

3. Why we use them

  • To maintain your session and enforce per-user query quotas
  • To keep sign-in secure and prevent abuse
  • To keep the service working reliably

4. Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Deleting lexnz_uid resets your anonymous quota. Blocking authentication cookies will prevent you from signing in, as they are essential to a secure account session.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version.
