This Act is the Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The first purpose of this Act is to establish a mechanism to provide adequate, sustainable, and secure funding for specified amenities that, by providing arts, education, rescue, or community facilities for or services to the Auckland region,— contribute to the well-being of the region; and contribute towards making Auckland a vibrant and attractive place to live in and visit. The second purpose is to ensure that all the territorial authorities in the Auckland region are part of the mechanism and so contribute towards the funding of the specified amenities.
