This Act is the Family Court (Family Court Associates) Legislation Bill . The following provisions come into force on the day after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent: , to the extent it relates to 7I, and 7J of the Family Court Act 1980: . The rest of this Act comes into force 4 months after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Part amends the Family Court Act 1980. After section 7, insert: The Governor-General may, on the recommendation of the Attorney-General, appoint 1 or more Family Court Associates. The Governor-General appoints a Family Court Associate by a signed warrant of appointment. A Family Court Associate may be appointed on a part-time or full-time basis. A person may be appointed a Family Court Associate if the person— has, for at least 7 y
