This Act is the Minimum Wage Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The purpose of this Act is to amend the Minimum Wage Act 1983 to provide for a minimum rate of wages of $15 per hour to apply on and after 1 April 2013. This Act amends the Minimum Wage Act 1983 (the ). After section 4, insert: An Order in Council must be made under section 4 prescribing a minimum rate of wages of not less than $15 per hour. The Order in Council— must be made by no later than ; and must come into force on . The minimum rate of wages prescribed by the Order in Council made in accordance with applies despite anything to the contrary in any enactment, rule of law, award, collective agreement, determination, or contract of service.
