This Act is the Public Works (Prohibition of Compulsory Acquisition of Māori Land) Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date of Royal assent. This Act amends the Public Works Act 1981. After section 4A, insert: Sections 4A and 16 do not apply to protected Māori land, other than with the consent of— the owners; and any kaitiaki of the land; and any other persons with an interest in the land. In this section, has the same meaning as in section 4 of the Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993.
