This Act is the Public Health Act . This Act comes into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council. However, if this Act has not earlier been brought into force, it comes into force on the day that is 1 year after the date that it receives the Royal assent. The purpose of this Act is to improve, promote, and protect public health in order to help attain optimal and equitable health outcomes for Māori and all other population groups.
