This Act is the Electoral Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Act amends the Electoral Act 1993 (the ). After section 60(f), insert: any person present in New Zealand who— is qualified to be registered as an elector of the district; and applies, on polling day, for registration as an elector of the district. After section 83(3), insert: The Electoral Commission may treat a special vote declaration as an application for registration as an elector if the declaration— is in a form approved by the Electoral Commission for use as an application for registration as an elector; and is completed by the declarant with the details specified in subsection (2)(a), (b), (c), and (h), and signed.
