This Act is the Ngāti Kōata, Ngāti Rārua, Ngāti Tama ki Te Tau Ihu, and Te Ātiawa o Te Waka-a-Māui Claims Settlement Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The purpose of is to give effect to certain provisions of the deeds of settlement that settle the historical claims of Ngāti Kōata, Ngāti Rārua, Ngāti Tama ki Te Tau Ihu, and Te Ātiawa o Te Waka-a-Māui. The provisions of take effect on the settlement date unless a provision states otherwise. Before the date on which a provision takes effect, a person may prepare or sign a document or do anything else that is required— for the provision to have full effect on that date; or for a power to be exercised, or for a duty to be performed, under the provision on that date. bind the Crown.
