This Act is the Te Rohe o Rongokako Joint Redress Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The purpose of this Act is to give effect to certain joint redress provided for in the deeds of settlement that settle the historical claims of— Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki nui-a-Rua; and Rangitāne o Wairarapa and Rangitāne o Tamaki nui-ā-Rua. The provisions of this Act take effect on the settlement date unless stated otherwise. Before the date on which a provision takes effect, a person may prepare or sign a document or do anything else that is required for— the provision to have full effect on that date; or a power to be exercised under the provision on that date; or a duty to be performed under the provision on that date.
