This Act is the Geographical Indications (Wine and Spirits) Registration Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Act amends the Geographical Indications (Wine and Spirits) Registration Act 2006 (the ). After section 2(2), insert: Any provision of this Act that is not already in force on 1 July 2018 comes into force on that date. Replace section 3(c) with: protect the interests of consumers of wine and spirits in New Zealand by providing assurance that a wine or spirit using a registered geographical indication originates in the territory, region, or locality to which the registered geographical indication relates; and facilitate the purposes set out in paragraphs (a), (b), and in a manner consistent with New Zealand’s
