This Act is the Public Finance (Sustainable Development Indicators) Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Act amends the Public Finance Act 1989 (the ). The purpose of this Act is to— ensure that the Government, in fulfilling its obligations for macro-economic planning under the principal Act, balances the national goals of economic opportunity with environmental responsibility; and consolidate and amend the law governing the use of public financial resources in a manner that is designed to ensure that the economic management of New Zealand is undertaken consistently with the interests of the sustainable development of New Zealand over the long term.
