This Act is the Urban Development Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. However, is treated as coming into force on 1 October 2019. However,— comes into force on the day that is 6 months after the date of Royal assent; and is treated as coming into force on 1 October 2019. The purpose of this Act is to facilitate urban development that contributes to sustainable, inclusive, and thriving communities. To that end, this Act— provides a mechanism to streamline and consolidate processes for selected urban development projects initiated, facilitated, or undertaken by Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities (referred to in this Act as ); and provides powers for the acquisition, development, and disposal of land used for the purpose of Kāinga Ora
