This Act is the Employment (Pay Equity and Equal Pay) Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The purposes of this Act are to— provide for— the elimination of existing sex discrimination in remuneration and other terms and conditions of employment; and the prevention of future sex discrimination in remuneration and other terms and conditions of employment; and promote enduring settlement of claims regarding sex discrimination on pay equity grounds; and set out the different processes by which employees may make claims relating to sex discrimination; and re-enact, in an up-to-date and accessible form, the relevant provisions of the Equal Pay Act 1972.
