This Act is the Referendums Framework Act . This Act comes into force on the day after Royal assent. This Act is repealed on the close of 31 October 2031. The purpose of this Act is to provide for 1 or more referendums to be held in conjunction with a general election after the commencement of this Act. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— means the Electoral Act 1993 means— the first general election after the commencement of this Act; or the second general election after the commencement of this Act means a referendum that an Act or an Order in Council made under declares to be a referendum for the purposes of this Act.
