This Act is the Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Act amends the Act . The purpose of this Act is to amend the principal Act by removing the rule that a person who commissions a work is the first owner of any copyright in the work. Section 21 is repealed and the following section substituted: The person who is the author of a work is the first owner of any copyright in the work. However, where an employee makes, in the course of his or her employment, a literary, dramatic, musical, or artistic work, that person's employer is the first owner of any copyright in the work.
