This Act is the Waikato-Tainui Raupatu Claims (Waikato River) Settlement Act . This Act comes into force as follows: the whole Act may be brought into force on a date appointed by the Governor-General by an Order in Council made on the advice of the Minister Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations; or different provisions may be brought into force on different dates appointed by the Governor-General by Orders in Council made on the advice of the Minister Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations. The overarching purpose of the settlement is to restore and protect the health and wellbeing of the Waikato River for future generations.
