This Act is the Electoral (Equal Protection of Māori Seats) Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Act amends the Electoral Act 1993. After section 268(1)(d), insert: Section 45, and the definition of the term in section 3(1), relating to the division of New Zealand into Maori electoral districts after each census:
