This Act is the Local Government (Auckland Council) Act . comes into force on the close of . The rest of this Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The purpose of this Act is— to make further provision for the Auckland Council established under Reorganisation) Act 2009 , including setting out the matters in relation to its structure and functions, duties, and powers that differ from the general provisions applying to local authorities under the Local Government Act 2002; and to provide the Local Government Commission with the necessary functions and powers to determine certain matters in relation to the Council; and to amend certain enactments.
