This Act is the Domestic Violence Reform Act . This Act comes into force on a date appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council; and 1 or more Orders in Council may be made appointing different dates for different provisions. The purpose of this Act is to amend the Domestic Violence Act 1995, the Care of Children Act 2004, the Sentencing Act 2002, and the Bail Act 2000, to— strengthen the object and implementation of the Domestic Violence Act 1995; and strengthen certain provisions of the Care of Children Act 2004 to further promote the safety of children; and enhance consistency between the Domestic Violence Act 1995 and the Care of Children Act 2004.
