This Act is the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environmental Effects) Act . This Act comes into force on a date appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council; and 1 or more orders may be made bringing different provisions into force on different dates. Any provision that has not earlier been brought into force comes into force on 1 July 2014. This section is a guide to the overall scheme and effect of this Act, but does not affect the interpretation or application of the other provisions of this Act. — defines terms used in the Act; and provides that the Act binds the Crown; and provides for the application of the Act to the ships and aircraft of the New Zealand Defence Force and foreign States. — sets out the purpose of the Act; and provides that the Act continues
