This Act is the Public Transport Management Act . This Act comes into force on . The purpose of this Act is to contribute to the aim of achieving an integrated, safe, responsive, and sustainable land transport system. To contribute to this purpose, this Act— powers regional councils to set standards for public transport services provided in their regions; and regulates the registration of public transport services ; and helps and the obtain the best value for money in achieving an integrated, safe, responsive, and sustainable public transport system, having regard to the desirability of encouraging fair competition and a competitive and efficient market for public transport services.
