This Act is the Ngati Porou Claims Settlement Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The purpose of this Act is— to give effect to certain provisions of the deed of settlement, which is a deed to settle the historical claims of Ngati Porou, dated 22 December 2010 and signed by— the Honourable Christopher Finlayson, the Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations, and the Honourable Simon William English, the Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Crown; and the following signatories: as the mandated negotiators, Rei Mokena Kohere, Apirana Tuahae Mahuika, Natana Maukau Ihaka, Linda Tuhiwai Smith, Selwyn Tanetoa Parata, Koroumatai Kody Pewhairangi, Jock Edward Walker, Robert McLeod, Whaimutu Kent Dewes, and Matanuku Mahuika; and as th
