This Act is the Education (Board of Trustee Freedom) Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Act amends the Education Act 1989. The purpose of this Act is to enable Boards of Trustees to manage their own affairs by administering the employment of teachers at their school. This Act binds the Crown. The following section is inserted after section 89: The Board of every school is to pay, out of grants paid to it under section 79, the salaries of all teachers employed at the school. Subject to Part 10, the provisions of the Employment Relations Act 2000 and the State Sector Act 1988, Boards may negotiate the employment of teachers on any terms and conditions of employment as they see fit.
