This Act is the Education (Establishment of Universities of Technology) Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Act amends the Education Act 1989. The purpose of this Act is to provide for the establishment of a new category of institution, a , in accordance with the process in section 162 of the principal Act, and to provide for protection of that term. The definition of in section 159 is amended by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (c): a university of technology; or Section 159 is amended by inserting the following definition after the definition of : means, subject to subsection (3), a body established as a university of technology under section 162(2) Section 159(3) is amended by inserting after .
