This Act is the Port Nicholson Block (Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika) Claims Settlement Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The purpose of this Act is to give effect to certain provisions of the deed of settlement, which is a deed that settles the historical claims of Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika. This Act binds the Crown. This section is a guide to the overall scheme and effect of this Act, but does not affect the interpretation or application of the other provisions of this Act or the deed of settlement.
