This Act is the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration (Preventing Name Change by Child Sex Offenders) Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This Act amends the Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 1995 (the ). In section 21, replace the definition of with: — means a person— whose birth is registered; or who is a New Zealand citizen or is entitled, under the Immigration Act 2009, to be in New Zealand indefinitely; but does not include a person who is a child sex offender In section 21, in their appropriate alphabetical order, insert: means a person— who has been convicted of a relevant offence; and whose conviction for the relevant offence has not been quashed has the same meani
