This Act is the Customs and Excise (Social Assistance) Amendment Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. This amends the Customs and Excise Act 1996. The purpose of this is to amend the principal Act so that the purposes for which it facilitates the exchange of information between the Customs and the department for the time being responsible for the administration of the Social Security Act 1964 include enabling the recovery of any debt due to the Crown in respect of any benefit. The heading to section 280 is amended by inserting after .
