This Act is the Te Hiku Claims Settlement Act . This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. The purpose of is— to record the acknowledgements and apology given by the Crown to Ngāti Kuri in the deed of settlement; and to give effect to certain provisions of the deed of settlement that settles the historical claims of Ngāti Kuri. The provisions of take effect on the settlement date unless stated otherwise.
