This Act is the Environmental Reporting Act . This Act comes into force on the earlier of the following: a date appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council (and 1 or more orders may be made bringing different provisions into force on different dates): the day that is 9 months after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent. The purpose of this Act is to— require regular reports on the state of New Zealand's environment as a whole: require regular reports on the state of the air, atmosphere and climate, freshwater, land, and marine domains: ensure that producers of environmental reports act independently and produce fair and accurate reports: ensure that the expertise of government departments is utilised in producing environmental reports: affirm the role of the Parlia
